About the Producer
At the age of five, Juan Adolfo learned to work in the fields, herding cattle, and milking cows. As he entered school, he alternated between studying and working, and he learned to manage the coffee nurseries on his father's farm. As he grew older, his love for coffee grew. While he was studying at university, he started to manage his father's coffee farm.
After completing his studies, he married María Dolores , with whom he formed not only a strong marriage but also a team centered around coffee. He inherited 1 hectare from his father and they soon began to grow their assets. This is where the story of Finca San Juan began, a name chosen by his mother. As time went by, they bought more land, starting with 8.4 hectares, until reaching a total of 69.7 hectares.
With the growth of the farm came the growth of the family, as they had four children who also grew up among the coffee plants. As the children grew, it became necessary to sell parts of the farm to meet their educational needs. They ended up with 48.8 hectares, but with university-educated children. Today, Juan Adolfo and María Dolores have built a company centered around coffee (Mini Granja Dilma), and each family member has their specific role. They have managed to directly market their coffee internationally, improving the quality through technology and studies. One of their children is a certified cupper by IHCAFE and is in charge of the processing stage once the coffee reaches the mill.
Juan Adolfo says they have faced many challenges, but with good planning and a great team, they have achieved many goals. He hopes that everyone who tries the coffees produced at Finca San Juan will be satisfied and fall in love with their coffees.
