DEI and Sustainability Statement

Updated: May 2025

🌍 Sustainability Commitment

At coffeeTRON, we are deeply committed to building a more sustainable future through responsible operations, products, and partnerships. Our approach focuses on measurable impact, long-term goals, and transparency.

Environmental Practices

  • Carbon Footprint Reduction: We have implemented energy-efficient systems  where possible at our facility and offset our emissions through Carbon Renewal with our partners at Climate Karen. We are on track to achieve net-zero emissions by 2027.

  • Renewable Energy Use: Over 12% of our operations are powered by renewable energy sources and are looking for ways to increase to 100%. We partner with the CleanVision program to offset 125% of our gas use.

  • Sustainable Sourcing: We prioritize suppliers who align with our environmental values, sourcing materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, or sustainably produced. We currently partner with Green Safe for our cups and lids. By 2026, all of our bag material will be sustainable.

  • Waste Management: We recycle with Recycle Here! Detroit and work with Midtown Composting for all our compostable materials.

🤝 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)

We believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace fosters innovation, growth, and stronger community relationships. Our commitment spans hiring practices, leadership development, and supplier engagement.

Workforce Diversity

  • Inclusive Hiring: We actively recruit talent from underrepresented communities and partner with organizations that support career advancement for marginalized groups.

  • Demographics: Our workforce is composed of:

    • 50% LGBTQ+ employees

  • Leadership: 50% of leadership positions are held by individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Supplier & Community Inclusion

  • Supplier Diversity: Currently engaged with more than 50% diverse suppliers, including minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses. We work directly with the farmers when possible.

  • Community Engagement: We invest in education and workforce development initiatives in underserved communities through volunteering and offering grants for our educational programs. Our project with the Coffee Quality Institute and Bolliger and Co. entitled Q Project Thailand has provided free Quality Evaluation and Processing certification courses for 72  coffee farmers since 2023.
